Jobs & Wages
I have been a proud champion of higher wages for the working class my entire life. As a North Carolina State Representative, I fought to increase the minimum wage for state workers in our state — and I will continue that fight in Congress by supporting raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. I will also push for laws that guarantee paid family and sick leave so workers can care for themselves and their families without sacrificing their earnings or employment. Finally, we must take decisive steps to close the gender pay gap once and for all.
In America today, there are 6 million job openings and not enough workers with the skills to fill them. This is why I support our local community colleges that provide affordable training and certificate programs to enable workers to acquire the skills necessary to fill these jobs.
